The group goes patrolling the territory, hunting and taking care of the younglings. The wolves that arrive of one hunted divide pieces of meat for the young.
Wolves, in contrast of the cats, do not depend on speed neighter on the surprise element to catch the preys. When they arrive in a herd of bisons, they clearly show that they are there and they wait the disbandment.
They strategy is based on the resistance and the hunts can last days. The wolves teeth are ideal to hold the prey, different of teeth of cats, that they are ideal to dilacerate. Because of these strategies, the wolves are much more efficient in the hunted, being more successful than cats in general. However, the wolves do not cause no carnage enter the populations of great herbíves, most of the time they hunt old animals, wounded, sick animals or vulnerable younglings.
So, altough the missing younglings, they make the herd most healthful.
